The last (and a relatively small one) of the three "poorly edited by all-encompassing link-blog post." Our final event is Tokyo Game Show 2008, which took place from October 9th to October 12th.

For a round-up of the Sense of Wonder Night that took place during TGS, check this post (Thanks again Isaac for the links!).

BlizzCon 2008

Another poorly edited by all-encompassing link-blog post! This time the subject in questions is BlizzCon 2008, which took place from October 10th to October 11th.

Aside from the new Wizard class and what not, one of the biggest surprise would be the new that Starcraft 2 will be split into 3 games...now they better be good, knowing Blizzard, they probably will be good, but still, three games, that's $150 total! Are they going to make a movie afterward and call it Starcraft: Advent Children?

Penny Arcade Expo 2008

Penny Arcade Expo 2008, or simply PAX, actually took place approximately half a month ago, which means this post is terribly late. However, it'd be a waste to throw out all the work that went into this (thanks Isaac!), so here it is, for those of you who missed out on PAX.

Unfortunately, due time time constraints...no time was spent on carefully organizing/categorizing the links or stating their source (just click the link! Jeez!), so prepare yourself for one of the worst examples of link-blogging.

Sense of Wonder Night 2008 Finalists

The finalists for the 2008 Sense of Wonder Night were announced on September 16th. Never heard of Sense of Wonder Night? Earlier this year, Nintendo announced a new event that will take place during their annual Tokyo Game Show called Sense of Wonder Night, the Japanese equivalent of a cross between Independent Gaming Festival and Experimental Gameplay Workshop (the organizers said SoWN was inspired by the latter).

Just how awesome is SoWN? One of their criteria for entries states that the entry has to be "A 'terrific!' game, even though the reasons are not immediately clear: A game that at any rate gives a strong impression that 'this is terrific' as soon as you see it." How cool is that?

Indie Tidbits

According to Introversion, their popular (and award-winning) game Darwinia and the upcoming multiplayer Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest will be made available on Microsoft's Xbox LIVE® Arcade service.

BusinessWeek has launched a new feature called BusinessWeek Arcade, where BusinessWeek rounds up some of the "Web's best free, independently produced games." The new column features quite a few high-quality free games, well worth checking out.

The Art of Play, an event put together by Heather Kelley, will take place at Carnegie Mellon University on March 31st and April 1st. According to the official website, "The aim of this Symposium and Arcade is to survey the games that brought us to this moment with their unique creative vision, and to frame the field moving forward, as game makers finally abandon the question "CAN games be art," and begin to ask ourselves in how many ways they WILL be."

New some screenshots and video of JADE has been released by Thomas Biskup.

Voting for the VGNG Compo has begun!
