Bye Bye Tidbits, For the Final Time...

in

Okay, I promise this will the last time. Finally decided to nuke the Tidbits section (for the nth time). Not that there's anything wrong with it, in fact, it was really well-done, and it was fun working with WordPress again. So why close it down (for the nth time)? When it comes down to it, time. If this was a few years ago, when I was still working on CP, Tidbits probably would have been a great idea, but now I really don't have the time and commitment to keep something like it up for an extended period of time, that, and Starcraft 2.

Kara no Kyoukai Blue-ray Disc Box and Final Chapter

rakkyofinalchapter

So a day ago, karanokyoukai.com had a mysterious 24-hour timer counting down. Fans debated what kind of announcement awaited the public at the end of the countdown, some say it's the anime adaptation of "Mirai Fukuin," others think it's about a Blue-ray disc. Of course, some who were more observation declared that the announcement, which will be about the Blue-ray Disc , had already been mentioned in Type-Moon Ace 5 (which turned out to be true).

So today, on the 27th of August (midnight on Friday in Japan), the big announcement was unveiled. What do we have? Kara no Kyoukai Blue-ray Disc Box along with an extra 30-minutes-long "Final Chapter," which will be the animated version of the epilogue from the novels. There will also be a Visual Chronicle Book bundled. The entire package will be released on February 2nd, 2011, for 52,500 yen. It looks like there will be English subtitles as well.

Tsuki-kan Major Update, Alicesoft Launches Website for New Games

daiteikokusite

It's hard to believe it has been over three years since Tsuki-kan was first launched. What started as a small Type-Moon site is now... still a small Type-Moon site. Not that it matters, but it's good to see that the site has grown to be a fairly good TM fansite with quite a bit of useful information.

In anticipation of the imminent release of Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, some major updates have been done over at Tsuki-kan. Most of the stuff are under the hood, the HTML/CSS (and it shall stay that way, CMS-free!) was completely rewritten to make the site cleaner, easier to manage, and update, and many mistakes were corrected. Since Mahoyo is coming out at the end of September, there will be some big updates in September related to Mahoyo, so keep an eye out for those!

Introversion Coming Clean with Its Recent Troubles

introversiontroubles

Introversion Software, maker of Darwinia and Defcon, recently made a post on their blog titled "Coming Clean." The post chronicles how Introversion came close to closing down its doors early this year, and how it's came back to life, and its current status.

From the sound of the blog post, it seems they expanded too fast, and tried to use their indie strategy to turn Introversion into a big company, which clearly did not work. Looks they did learned a lot from this ordeal, and has gone back to being real "bedroom developers" (although mainly due to necessity).

Star Ruler, Large Scale Space Strategy Game with Ships the Size of a Galaxy

starrulersrelease

After some messing around, it has now become extremely easy for me to insert images into posts and create thumbnails! Of course, this feature isn't something that's apparent from the outside, but I thought I'd celebrate by making the first image-automation-powered post! I also could have used Lightbox 2 for the images, but I like being simple and basic, so for now I won't, let's see how it goes.

So, on to some real news! Star Ruler, an indie (you can't really tell it's indie by just looking at the screenshots) 4X (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) space strategy game has just been released. The game features procedurally generated galaxies and some really intricate (and complicated) ship building, diplomacy, and research features.
