Spelunky Version 1 Released, LA-MULANA Goes the Way of Wii, Solar Plexus No More

During the last few months while this place was collecting dust, quite a bit of stuff happened in the world of indie, not going to bother going over them all, but here are some more interesting (and more recent) news that are pretty interesting.

First of all, version 1.0 of Derek Yu's platformer/roguelike game Spelunky has finally been released. What's more, there's a Xbox Live Arcade version being planned... under Derek's new video game company Mossmouth. Maybe that mean less time/attention for Bit Blot?

Oh, and for those of you wondering what kind of game Spelunky is, quoting from the Spelunky website:

Spelunky is a cave exploration / treasure-hunting game inspired by classic platform games and roguelikes, where the goal is to grab as much treasure from the cave as possible. Every time you play the cave's layout will be different. Use your wits, your reflexes, and the items available to you to survive and go ever deeper! Perhaps at the end you may find what you're looking for...

In other news, LA-MULANA is being remade by the wonderful NICALiS (the dudes who are working on the WiiWare port of Cave Story) and NIGORO... and will be launched on WiiWare! Yay, another great game that I can't play. By the way they got a cool site up and running for the new port.

In further news, Noitu Love 2 creator Konjak announced that he's giving up on Solar Plexus. That kind of sucks, all that work down the drain (sort of), though to tell the truth, the concept and presentation of Solar Plexus never looked that interesting to begin with. Not that it didn't look good compared to 90% of the other crap out there, but after Noitu Love 2... it just didn't seem as good, guess NL2 raised my expectation a bit to high. Anyways, good luck to Konjak on whatever he's planning on next, Noitu Love 3 perhaps?
