Everyday Shooter Finally Released (As It Should Have Been Released Many Months Ago)

Edit: It seems like with D2D, you still need to do activate the game by connecting to the D2D servers after installing on a computer for the first time, meaning no internet, no play. As a result...basically everything in this post have no meaning anymore.

IndieGames Blog reports that the PC version of Queasy Games' award-winning abstract shooter Everyday Shooter has been released on Direct2Drive.

What does this mean? It means you can finally "own" the game without having to buy a PS3! They should have done this a long time ago! While this game was originally released for the PlayStation 3, surely there were people who wanted to play this but didn't want to buy an overpriced and at-the-time sucky PS3.

When a PC version of the game was announced, it was revealed that the game would be distributed on Steam, meaning you won't own a physical copy of the game, and will only be able to play it with Steam enabled, which can prove to be extremely troublesome when internet access is not readily available (ways to get around that are too much trouble when all you want to do is to play a little indie shooter).

Finally, not you can download and install the game on your very own hard drive, copy it to a USB drive, make a back-up of the game, and the best part is, you can still play it anywhere you want (with a USB drive of course)!

'Tis a day of celebration. More indie games should try out services like D2D rather than Steam, I'm looking at you World of Goo!

Oh and while at it, a PSP version of ES was announced as well:

A PSP 4GB Memory Entertainment Pack will be released this November, which comes bundled with a Piano Black PSP-3000 (the new PSP model with non-reflective screen), one 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and a voucher to download the PSP version of Everyday Shooter from the PlayStation Store free of charge. The pack itself will retail at $200, though there is no information yet on when existing PSP owners can acquire the game without buying the entire bundle.
